Our Thought Life
Has anyone ever said to you, “A penny for your thoughts?”
What rolls over in our thinking is a very important part of our living. The Scripture says in Prov.23:7 “As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he.” What predominates our thinking can cause us to be a Thumbs Up, or a Thumbs down person, happy or critical.
In a very real sense…
Our thoughts direct our attitudes.
Our attitudes show up in our actions.
Our actions form our character.
Thoughts -- Attitudes – Actions – Character – what weighty words to dwell on. The desire of our hearts will help draw us to thinking on these things. If we believe our thoughts direct our attitudes and actions, how should we be thinking?
Isaiah told us that we would have perfect peace when our minds are stayed on Christ. Isa. 26:3. Paul said in Phil.2:5 …Let this mind (thinking) be in you which was in Christ Jesus. And, be anxious for nothing…but in everything by prayer…with thanksgiving let your requests be made to God…Phil.4:6,7.
Just as food makes our bodies strong and healthy, so God’s Word makes us spiritually strong and healthy. It gives help and guidance in our thinking our attitudes and our actions.
Paul was helpful when he gave us some guidelines for our thinking. He said in Phil.4:8 - - Whatever things are true...honest…just…pure…lovely…of good report...if there is any virtue… or any praise…
THINK ON THESE THINGS !! A thankful heart produces a healthy thought life.
YES, AS A MAN THINKETH IN HIS HEART…SO IS HE!
Solomon’s words challenge us in Prov.4:23 “Keep thy heart with all diligence, for out of it are the issues of Life
