Thanksgiving 2002

These pre-Thanksgiving days are quite different, I'm sure, from those preceding the First Thanksgiving Day. Of course it depends on where our HOPE is focused as to how thankful our hearts really are. Our source of peace and joy certainly does not come from the news media. We are thankful that our source is in God, our Creator who rules our planet, sometimes in love and sometimes, of necessity, in judgment.

In times like these, we need a sure foundation, one on which we can place our faith, trust and confidence. David, in psalm 62:5 says: My soul, wait thou only upon God, for my expectation is from him.

Take a look at some of the following verses. They will give you cause to rejoice and be thankful:

Ps.28:7 The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped. Therefore, my heart greatly rejoiceth, and with my song I will praise him.

I Pet. 1: 4 We have an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for us.

Ps.100:5 The Lord is good; his mercy is everlasting, and his truth endureth to all generations.

Ps. 107:8 Oh that men would praise the Lord for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men. (this is repeated in verses 15,21,31)

A good exercise at this time of year is to make your own "thankful" list. It will continue to grow and your heart will expand with praise when you meditate on the countless joys and benefits that are yours. I wish you God's richest blessings all through this wonderful Thanksgiving Season.
